Marilyn Monroe House Is For Sale ... Any Interested Buyers?

I came across the Hooked on Houses  blog by accident, and I have to say ... it's fabulous. It's going to be one of my favorites.  Lots of great pic's of many homes, (we can see how the other side lives) : );  and you will literally laugh, cry, shake your head and be envious of some of the info and pics she has on her blog.  Definitely worth the time to read it.

This tidbit was most interesting ... Marilyn Monroe was  only 36 when she was found dead in her Brentwood bedroom in 1962.   The Brentwood home at 5th Helena Drive, (The house has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and about 2,600 square feet.)   has held a lot of fascination since it was the last house she lived in.  And, Marilyn Monroe’s Brentwood House is For Sale according to  Hooked on Houses!

Here are some old photos of how it looked after Marilyn died (via PopSugar):

Marilyn's sink, livingroom and the doorway to her bedroom.

According to CurbedMonroe purchased the house shortly before she died in it, according to the book, "Hollywood: The Movie Lover's Guide: The Ultimate Insider Tour of Movie L.A.

Hollywood: The Movie Lover's Guide: The Ultimate Insider Tour of Movie L.A.Excerpt: “Urged by her psychiatrist to “put down roots,” she had found the house and bought it—all by herself. She had liked the house and took a trip to Mexico to look for furnishings and fabrics. She especially liked the garden, where she often played with her poodle, Maf.”

According to the Marilyn Monroe Memories web site, Monroe bought the home for $90,000. "This was the first property that Marilyn Monroe ever owned. She took out a mortgage which started on 1st March 1962, was for 15 years, and Marilyn made monthly payments of $320. The house was situated at the end of a small cul-de-sac, and was very private, away from the busy roads."

The house last sold in 1994 for $995,000. Asking price now is $3.595 million.

You can read more about the house on LA Curbed and the Daily Mail. For more information and the rest of the photos, check out the listing : David Offer, Prudential Realty.

JOAQUIN PHEONIX - Amazing Letterman Interview !

Wow, I have not seen a interview go like this since the old NBC days when Dave used to skewer the guest! Joaquin seems to have a " my publicist made me do this show, F**k You and CBS " attitude pure awesomeness. I found it quite refreshing to Letterman's normal
grandma style interviews of the Hollywood elite !

Retro Glam Hair. Tips on How to Achieve It.

The idea is to emphasize the prettiness of the style, without looking too 'costumey.' Here's how to achieve at-home versions of Oscar night's retro looks.

Each hair style starts with the right preparation, which includes the correct shampoo and conditioner selected for your hair type. Volumizing products provide fine, limp hair some of the curl and texture you need for these styles. A smoothing shampoo and conditioner combo will tame curlier hair as needed. Next, get prepared with the right styling product that will help you sculpt your hair to where it needs to go. Not sure which one is right for you? For fine hair, look for a product that adds volume, like a mousse or spray gel. A cream or wax will work to calm hair down coarse or curly hair. The final touch? A hair accessory. Delicate, brilliant clips are a great evening hair trend, and help keep hair in place. For day, make the clip or other hair accessory less shiny. Other ideas include:

  • Bobby Pins. Bobby Pins. And, more Bobby Pins. Use Bobby Pins! To dress up your bobby pins, use some cute buttons, plastic "doo dahs" (i.e., cherry charms, skulls, flowers) and hot glue them on to the bobby pin. Or if you want to go simple, check out our hair flowers by Little Lily Designs, Lucky 11 and Vanity Exposed.
  • Headbands in different colors, patterns or plaids are also very trendy. You can wear one single headband or rows of them. Headbands can also be embellished with charms, buttons or other crafty items.
  • Wear a chignon otherwise known as the "messy bun". Create by gathering your hair into a ponytail. Now use another elastic to create a bun,but be careless about it. Thus, the cignon! : )

    At Home How-to: Charlize Theron
Charlize won the coveted little gold guy, plus accolades for her head to toe glamour look on Oscar night. This Hollywood hair look emphasized soft, flattering curls.

Step 1: On towel-dried hair, apply the correct styling product for your hair type from hair roots to ends.

Step 2: Pre-dry hair with a blow dryer.

Step 3: Set up hair with desired part. Dividing hair into 1-inch sections, work a curling iron through, section by section. Starting from close to the scalp, spiral hair unto the iron's barrel, hold briefly, then release. Work through hair until complete.

Step 4: After allowing hair to cool, test curl - if curl has not taken, take the curl and pin it up to the scalp with a pin, rolling as you go. If curl is firm, separate with fingers and finger comb to desired look.

Step 5: Take hair accessory and pin back hair on one side back, away from the face.
