Dress to the Nines ... the Dita Von Teese Way

Who wouldn't want to dress like the gorgeous and always fashionable Dita Von Teese ?  Not know who she is?  Where have you been?  Dita is a famous burlesque and pinup star. She says that her greatest sources of inspiration are films, art and still photographs from the 1930s to the early 1950s.

Some easy ways to be inspired by Dita's fashion sense and feminism is to:
  • Find a love  relationship with corsets. Dita is known for her love of  these fabulous undergarments and is often seen in clothing that enhances her hourglass figure. Dita says that comfort is based on quality rather than severity and a corset made to measurements by an expert makes all the difference in the world.  Listen to her : )
  • Get a nice vintage cinched waist jacket and a high waist skirt.
  • Wear old or new vintage reproductions to have the look of the 1940s but still have modern comfort. A great example is the the Kiera Reproduction dress in our Get Go Retro Shop!  Classy, stylish and feminine.
  • Always have your best face forward with well applied makeup (red lipstick is always good) and have your hair done in the forties style.
  • Heels, Heels and Heels.
  • Stockings ... seamed are nice.
  • Relax in a robe and slippers. The more feminine the better.
  • Dress yourself in the kind of clothing she's comfortable in. She wears skirts and dresses with heels. She also likes well-tailored, wide-leg trousers.
  • Don't think it's hard to dress this way ... it's about style, it's about being you and it's a lifestyle.

Burlesque star Dita Von Teese maintains her pin-up image by working out in full make-up

Mail - Most stars hide under baseball caps when working out, but not burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, who put fellow A-listers to shame at a Hollywood pilates centre yesterday. Famed for her retro 1940s look, the ex-wife of Marilyn Manson didn't disappoint with perfectly coiffed hair and flawless make-up including signature red lipstick. Nor would an old vest suffice for the elegant 36-year-old's workout, instead opting for a black form-fitting T-shirt and capri-length leggings that most others would save for smarter occasions.

We love Dita Von Teese and know that you do too. Dont miss these previous posts on Dita Von Teese's ARS Vivendi stocking wearing appearance in Playboy Germany.

Bettie Page, the model who sparked sexual revolution, dies in LA at 85

Bettie Page

Independent - Bettie Page, the raven-haired pinup girl whose naughty-but-nice rompings with whips, garters and high heels titillated a generation of young men and school boys in the 1950s has died at the age of 85. She had suffered a heart attack earlier this month, slipping into a coma. Her career, that some have said laid the foundations for the sexual revolution that came to America in the 1960s, started almost by accident after she discovered that posing for amateur photographers in provocative poses and risqué attire made her more money than working as a secretary.

DITA VON TEESE - Wonderbra Lingerie

I love it when you can go about your daily business with the knowledge that you have a little secret of your own on underneath. Lingerie shouldn't be something you just put on for your lover; you should do it for you. It's not about seducing men, it's about embracing womanhood.'
