Marilyn Monroe House Is For Sale ... Any Interested Buyers?

I came across the Hooked on Houses  blog by accident, and I have to say ... it's fabulous. It's going to be one of my favorites.  Lots of great pic's of many homes, (we can see how the other side lives) : );  and you will literally laugh, cry, shake your head and be envious of some of the info and pics she has on her blog.  Definitely worth the time to read it.

This tidbit was most interesting ... Marilyn Monroe was  only 36 when she was found dead in her Brentwood bedroom in 1962.   The Brentwood home at 5th Helena Drive, (The house has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and about 2,600 square feet.)   has held a lot of fascination since it was the last house she lived in.  And, Marilyn Monroe’s Brentwood House is For Sale according to  Hooked on Houses!

Here are some old photos of how it looked after Marilyn died (via PopSugar):

Marilyn's sink, livingroom and the doorway to her bedroom.

According to CurbedMonroe purchased the house shortly before she died in it, according to the book, "Hollywood: The Movie Lover's Guide: The Ultimate Insider Tour of Movie L.A.

Hollywood: The Movie Lover's Guide: The Ultimate Insider Tour of Movie L.A.Excerpt: “Urged by her psychiatrist to “put down roots,” she had found the house and bought it—all by herself. She had liked the house and took a trip to Mexico to look for furnishings and fabrics. She especially liked the garden, where she often played with her poodle, Maf.”

According to the Marilyn Monroe Memories web site, Monroe bought the home for $90,000. "This was the first property that Marilyn Monroe ever owned. She took out a mortgage which started on 1st March 1962, was for 15 years, and Marilyn made monthly payments of $320. The house was situated at the end of a small cul-de-sac, and was very private, away from the busy roads."

The house last sold in 1994 for $995,000. Asking price now is $3.595 million.

You can read more about the house on LA Curbed and the Daily Mail. For more information and the rest of the photos, check out the listing : David Offer, Prudential Realty.

We just added some new tanning products to the site, that we feel go hand in hand with our swimwear products.  Check out  our patent pending Tan Touch-up Pen which is designed to cover irregular and uneven tan lines and skin tones, with a mix of cosmetic and sunless bronzers in a gel form, utilizing a lip gloss sized "roll-on" applicator for the perfect tan and skin tone. We have the anti-aging bronzing mist which gives you an instant streak-free tan whether used for touch-ups or full-body tans. A unique delivery system produces skin that is more than just deeply tan. Seams Easy .... Seamed Stockings

This is a fabulous retro picture. Puts a new spin on "seamed stockings" doesn't it? 40s popular option was to apply makeup to the leg, a tedious procedure that could include painting a black line up the back of the leg to complete the illusion.

Is This Wild or What? Pavillion Made from 200 Recycled Speedo's

All images via www.designboom.com

This amazing pavilion designed by students at Chelsea College of Art & Design has been on show during the London Festival of Architecture for the last couple of weeks. It is made from the unlikeliest of materials, Speedo swimsuits.  What a fantastic example of the design possibilities that can be found in the upcycling process.

Sustainable Design Brief

The pavilion' is the result of a collaborative project between Chelsea College of Art & Design and the famous Speedo swimwear brand, which asked students to look at issues of sustainability, production and use of materials.  Redundant Swimsuits

Students on Chelsea's Platform 2 were given 600 'LZR racer' swimming suits to find an appropriate use for. Why the LZR racer? And why so many? Well due to recent changes in swimming competition rules this incredibly hi-tech piece of sportswear was made redundant leaving Speedo with hundreds of swimsuits they could no longer sell.

Lady Gaga's Body Suit AKA Body Shaping Garment

As you can see ... even celebrities wear shapewear!

Lady Gaga is well-known for her outlandish outfits, but it seems that her body stocking-du-jour can be bought off the television;  the L.A. Times reports. Kymaro, an 'As Seen On TV' enterprise claims that Gaga's flesh-colored suit is the Kymaro Body Shaper, and gets rid of love handles, spare tires and middle age spread. It slims down 2 dress sizes instantly and is made from a comfortable fabric that moves with you, perfect for those times when you're performing "Bad Romance" in front of a crowd of screaming fans.

Now ... I hope you all agree with me .... doesn't our shapewear look much better????

Check ours out at Ardyss Body Magic : )
