Bon Appetite Hon

Another cool thing to come out of Bawlmore is the famous "Baltimore Bomb Pie" featured on the Food Networks" "The Best Thing I Ever Ate."   Also favored by Charm City Cakes Duff Goldman, the pie has become somewhat famous.  You can buy it online at Dangerously Delicious Pies, or try to make one yourself.  In searching for a recipe, I came across to great sites that come very close to mimicking it.  Check out My Man's Belly and Chris and Ashton's Blog.  below is the recipe from My Man's Belly.

PS -- Don't forget to wear your favorite apron!

Use your own favorite Pie Crust recipe, or if you hate rolling out pastry (like me) ... Just go buy one of those Pet Ritz froze pie shells  : )  What's important here is the filling : )

Filling:

  • 1 Large Egg
  • 4 Large Egg Yolks
  • 2/3 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2/3 Cup Light Brown Sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt (not Kosher salt)
  • 2 Tablespoons Cider Vinegar
  • 2/3 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 6 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter (cut into small pieces)
  • 1/2 Package of Berger's Cookies (They are very rich) and another great product from Baltimore (you can buy those on line as well)
 Directions:
  •  Bake your pie crust for 10 minutes (like any other pie)
For Pie Filling
  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees Farenheit. (yes, 275 degrees Farenheit)
  • Whisk, in a heatproof bowl, the first six ingredients until no yellow streaks remain.
  • Whisk in heavy cream.
  • Scatter in the pieces of butter.
  • Bring 1 inch of water to a simmer in a medium size saucepan.
  • Place heatproof bowl, containing the filling ingredients, over the simmering water (the water should not touch the bottom of the bowl). Gently whisk until filling is warm to the touch. (butter will probably not be completely melted)
  • Add in chopped Berger Cookies and whisk gently to combine.
  • Pour filling into pie crust.
  • Bake for 6o minutes.
  • When it is time to remove the pie, you will see that it still jiggles a bit in the center…that’s okay, it should do that.
  • Let cool.  Eat!

So Sweet ... Marilyn Monore Portrait Made Out of Candy

Candy is dandy when it looks like this.  This Marilyn Monroe portrait is too sweet to miss. The portrait made entirely of candy can soon be admired in the lobby of the “Ripley’s Believe It or Not!” Odditorium in Orlando.

Enrique Ramos of Mexico City, is the candy artist who has made similar sugary portraits of Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson for other Ripley’s outlets around the country.

The tasty portraits are made out of candy hearts, after dinner mints, licorice, Fruit by the Foot, and more.

Something Wicked This Way Comes .....

My new favorite addition to the site.  The "Wicked Lady Frock."  Designed by Miss Matilda with British Actress Margaret Lockwood in mind, the infamous Hollywood code of the period and the no cleavage policy. Perfect for all of you Able Grables!  Did you know:  Did you know Able Grable is slang for a hot woman! At the time of World War Two if you were hot just like Betty Grable you'd be called an Able Grable?  I just learned that.

This is a fabulous slinking cocktail dress.  And it's gorgeously noticeable.  Unique, custom made and elegant.  Gals,   Gals, this Wicked Lady Gives you plenty of cleavage.    Go forth and show your assets!

New -- The Diner Girl Dress ... It Will Serve You Well!

Servin' it up hot!  Okay, okay it is a little "on the trashy side," but it's still a pretty cool dress.  This is a retro 50's diner girl and red cigar dress. It has a fitted bodice and a sexy full cigar skirt, that gives every body type an hour glass shape.

The diner fabric has 50's style car hops on roller skates. Would look even more sexy with a red petticoat underneath.

Also available in black fabric : )   Available here.

Da Plane! Da Plane! Air Tran Has Swimsuit Model on Side of Da Plane!

Did anybody see this?   Florida-based AirTran airways is under fire for the swimsuit clad by-products of its alliance with Sports Illustrated. The picture of a swimsuit model on the side of one of their AirTran’s Boeing 737s has their flight attendants, citing moral folly, upset.

“It is our feeling that this is not only contrary to the family image that this company tries to promote, but also potentially offensive to their female employees, the majority of their flight attendants who will have to work on this aircraft,” AirTran’s Association of Flight Attendants objected, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Additionally, the AFA suggested the image of the girl in the swimsuit “creates a potential for verbal abuse by male passengers.”

I love what AirTran had to say; and it does make sense:  AirTran has simply said that the partnership is ending soon anyway, so when that happens, problem solved.

Love their answer ... personally, I see nothing wrong with the photo.  She's pretty covered up ... I've seen worse on the beach or even ... MTV.   And, anyone ever seen the gals on the WWII Bombers?
